The United States Marine Corps (USMC) is one of the five branches of US armed forces (US Army, USMC, US Navy, US Air force and Coast guard) reporting directly to the president. The USMC serves as an amphibious force ready for actions of an expeditionary nature, using the mobility of the Navy to provide timely intervention in foreign affairs on behalf of the US interests.
